Eldon LEIS - Painter
Eldon is a Canadian Artist who was born in 1934 in the village of Wellesley, Ontario.
He first became intered in oil painting at the age of six after moving to Doon when he was first introduced to the works of Homer Watson. Several years later he began private lessons under the tutelage of Miss Poebe Watson, sister of the late Home Watson. Although he undertook other private lessons, much of his artistic skill is self taught.
He became a full time artist in 1965. Eldon established his studio and art gallery in his home where he continues to work.
His commissioned works have been highly acclaimed by individuals and industry across Canada.
Eldon’s specialities are Canadian Landscapes and old building. His paintings have been shown in many Canadian and American Cities, and hang in private collections around the world.
He was one of the founding members of the May-Allen Studio Tour which became very successful in Waterloo, and is still running.
Eldon Leis and his wife Jeannie live in Waterloo, Ontario. They have three children and seven grandchildren and one grand-daughter-in-law.
