Here's something the wife found out thrifting years ago. Ink on 1/4" plywood, signed & dated on the ankle "Jan Nice 1945". Not sure if "Nice" is the last name or refers to Nice, France. Probably just some keepsake of a grunt's (well, a Sgt. anyway) time served in the ETO made by a comrade. We love it, though, and keep it in our bathroom on the wall next to the medicine cabinet.

If anyone knows of other examples by this artist, however, we would love to know about them.

I have another one VERY similar to yours, but of a Billeting Officer, also marked "Jan Nice, 1945." I was trying to determine of they were worth anything. The paint on mine has a few places where it looks like it got wet and started to run. I was about to put mine in a consignment shop.

Interesting! Any chance you could post a picture of it? Sounds to me these likely are caractures done by a local French artist for billeting Yank soldiers, don't ya think?

As to value, who knows? 'Willing buyer/willing seller' is all I can say. If you do ebay, it might be worth a shot at a silly price ~ there's no charge if it doesn't sell and you just might get lucky.

Whatever you decide, let us (me) know how it turns out.
