I recently found this small gold-framed original painting. It is done in a somewhat naïve style and has a bit of chipped paint but I really like it. The problem is that I can't figure out what the artist's name is. I'm hoping that someone will either know or may be able to help figure it out. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It looks just like initials M.G to me, not helpful at all sorry.
I would get some brownish oil paint and cover the loss, you would not notice it so much then!

Thank you for your comments. Yes, a little paint would help that stark white spot!! :)

Your idea about the name is exactly what I thought. The first period after the M looks a lot like an I (??) but, of course, could be just be an artist in a hurry making that mark larger than normal. BUT I was surprised, when I looked closer----I really think there is more to the last name. If I enlarge the picture so that I can see that area clearer, I'm almost positive that I see at least one E and I can't make out the other letter or letters. So, it looks like the name is Migee or McGee. If there are additional letters, I'm hoping someone may be able to come up with an alternative to McGee since I can't make that Mi or M. turn into the letter "c"--surely the artist would have made that letter a little more curved if that's the case.
