Here's a nifty little gadget from Mom's kitchen at least most recently -- it could have easily first come to her kitchen via of one of my Grandmas, or Aunts, or ???

This old steel mechanical eggbeater has red wooden handles (the one on its crank is slightly burned, musta got too close to somebody's stove?) and measures about 11" long overall. Stamped onto one side of its crank wheel are the words "THE TAPLIN MFG.CO. NEW BRITAIN, CONN. PAT. NO. 1618285 MADE IN U.S.A."

I don't know forzactly how old it is, but it sorta screams 1940's to me...anybody else know otherwise? Anyway about it, with those red handles it *absolutely* had to come home with me, to help decorate my 'red accents' kitchen?? <lol>

I have a similar 1910s one. Google Patents says the patent was issued in 1927.

That's a neat one. If I had the 'EggBeater' book I got my sister awhile ago, I could give you specifics on it. She collects antique EggBeaters and has about 50 of them. I have found quite a few good ones for her. . I think this one is a fairly common one. According to the book there has to be at least 500 or more different styles. Amazing! Thanx for posting. Please check out my post on some of her collection.
