I honestly can't definitely say a whole lot about this item beyond that which is obvious, no matter how much I wish I could do so -- and how COMPLETELY TOTALLY AWESOMELY COOL I think I find it, anyway...? ;-) :-) :-)

I'm absolutely guessing this was Grandpa's, maybe after he officially retired as a State of IL Game/Fish Dept. employee, when he might have otherwise worked for awhile for the local Fulton Co. IL township in which his farm was located, their headquarters/shops being just down the road a bit. There's also a chance, I suppose, that it first belonged to an Uncle of mine too...there were several of those nearby as well -- again, I simply don't know, in any case.

Anyway. It IS a heavy black rubberized cloth 'raincoat', with a fleece-ish lining, (formerly black?) corduroy collar, and heavy-duty clasps and hardware to hold it closed. On its back, perhaps 'painted' on in silverish lettering, is the word "BANNER", which is in fact the name of that Fulton County township mentioned earlier.

Its only label on the inside of its single interior pocket identifies it as being a "MIDWESTERN GARMENT", "MADE FROM GENUINE VANITEX WATERPROOF FABRIC", by "MIDWESTERN SAFETY MFG. CO. of MACKINAW, ILL." Looks like there might have been an additional 'size label tag' (now gone) under the still existing label.

Once more, I can only guess by the general 'look' of it, that it dates from the 1950's/60's or so...?

It is obviously in need of a good cleaning (being found hanging in Mom and Dad's garage, after who knows how many years there?) but I'm not sure what to even do about that...beyond just trying to wipe it down with damp paper towels/etc, does anybody have any suggestions in that regard??
