Early 1900s?? Secretary's Desk like I have never seen

Looks like there was some repair work on the top and the whole piece may have been restained the dark color it is now. There are no visible stamps, labels, logos, etc on the entire piece.

I have never seen a secretary like this. The rectangular decoration looks hand carved. I was gifted this beauty by a super of a large apartment building in the West Village, Manhattan a few weeks ago, right before she retired, along with some other pieces dating back into the early 1900s. She had mentioned this was about the same period. I have no idea.... I cannot find and have never seen a secretary like this. Any info anyone has about anything about this piece would be appreciated... I am at a loss. I would like to know what I have. Should it be in storage, or proudly displayed in my entry way, or in a museum... lol.
