This sign is a rare example of what I believe was a locally owned petroleum company known as General Petroleum Products Co. I'm not sure this is correct though. This sign has lasted through the years and has imperfections here and there like most of these signs. I have included a vintage photo of a General gas station in Los Angeles. It's on the left side of the photo. Note the Pacific Trunk Factory next door. Due to the cars in the photo. This may be dated in the 1929-1939 era.

From what I remember the Standard oil co of NY merged with the Vacuum co in 1931. I have never seen this sign before. Maybe someone else can chime in.
