NOX rat trap, made in Abingdon, IL

I would not have guessed that Mom would let this go, since I'm certain she's the one that cleaned/finished it up back when I was just a child. Nonetheless it remained for me to claim, so now awaits a proper display place (NOT in the crawlspace under the house?!!) somewhere in my own home.

A NOX rat trap, "MANUFACTURED BY ABINGDON TRAP CO., ABINGDON, ILL. U.S.A." Though I literally know absolutely nothing further about this company, Abingdon, IL happens to also be the location of the very first house I was "brought home" to as an infant -- so this piece will always be just a little extra-special to me. :-)

It would not surprise me to learn that this could date from the 1940's or earlier, though again I have no actual idea. By the early 1970's anyway, there was no remaining evidence (to my childhood memories anyway) of this Company or its manufacturing facilities left extant in Abingdon.
