Vintage 1950's. Made in Sweden by Mummenthaler & Meier.
Made of Teak solid and Teak veneer.
Stands about 45 inches tall. 32 inches wide. 20 inches deep.
Opens up like a cabinet only to reveal two wings that open outwards.
It has a pull out desk surface, about 20 some shelves, a file folder area, a cubby hole with a door and a pigeon hole, knee cut out, and two carved handles. The lock has no key, says Bird on it.
I also have the same desk. Is this a a Henning Jensen? Have you had it appraised? If so, what did it appraise for? Do you know value? Thanks. I'll be looking to sell mine, but don't know where to start with this piece.
Thanks.
CW is not a site that offers appraisals.
What a kewl piece of furniture.
Hello Clazenby, I did not have this piece appraised. Instead, I did extensive research and believe it to be a Mummenthaler & Meier piece made in Sweden, from 1950 to 1960 roughly. This company began making these desks in 1928. I found the price ranges anywhere from $800 to $4500. I did not get these prices from ebay or etsy. I chose high end vintage designer seller sites such as Chairish for pricing ideas. So with that in mind, I priced mine at $2300 for a month but finally settled on $1500 and sold it to a dear friend in a private sale. I would love to see photos of yours. By the way, the oval handles? They are hand carved.
Dear Gillian, thank you , it is very cool, and if your other comment was directed at clazenby, please read their post again.
Regards,
Peggy
