I was digging through a big box of pre-bagged jewelry and found this wonderful enamel and silver brooch in with two other brooches. I spotted the marks through the patina (now removed) . The enamel is on metal, depicting two snails. The Dutch silver sword mark dates it to between 1906-1953. Maker's initials are still somewhat of a mystery. Even with the loupe and tilting it in various directions, it's still hard to see. Measures 2 1/2 inches across, so not a small brooch. Looks like an "MW" painted on the side of the brooch. No images of this on the web, of course. I think it dates to the earlier part of the 20th Century, as it has a C clasp and a very narrow hinge.
I love it.
Thanks for stopping!
Bonnie
