Pair of "LIONEL LINES #1690" model train passenger coaches made completely of metal. I know very little about model railroading, but believe these are "O-scale", each measures around 9" long.
Though I had a train set as a kid, it was surely newer (w/plastic parts, etc) and these weren't part of it -- they came along later somehow, and I don't remember exactly how/where/when.
If anybody has (age, in particular?!) info about them to share, I'd love to hear it! :-)
The #1690 called a pullman usually included an observation car and dining car or maybe a mail car. The wheels and coupling look like yours are from 1933 to 1940. O guage
THANKS SO VERY KINDLY roddyq for the further info!! WOW, I wouldn't have guessed they were quite that old -- I probably should have been slightly more careful with them, instead of just stuffing 'em into the box with the rest of the 'train set stuff'?!!
THANK YOUS to everybody for all the <LOVES>, too!!! :-) :-) :-)
They will still display nicely as they are. I like to leave classics in their played with condition adds to their character. Enjoy them, Lionel is my favorite train!!
Oh wow.......Nice !!
