This pot is not for cooking it is for the bed chamber. No need to go to the outhouse as one can do their business right in this pot. The enamel coating inside makes it easy to clean.
This is an adult sized sized chamber pot about 10" across. A graniteware swirl pattern like this would be popular around the turn of the century give or take 15-20 years.
This one is in rough shape but I liked the cobalt blue color. The light blue color is much more common. This may or may not be used with chair with a hole in the seat.

I still remember my grandparents having a pot under their bed. The dunny back then was waaaay out in the back yard. They called it the po', very euphemistic.

Thank you very much racer4four. The dunny can be a bit smelly. Did they move it to a new spot after it got full? Some people dig a new hole and move it.

By then they were a removable pan toilet, not a big hole, and the dunny man would come down the back lane each week and empty it. I'm not sure how occupational health rules would consider that job now!

That would be hazardous waste removal. Probably done by guys in astronaut suits costing $50,000 to remove it.
