I forgot about this rose bowl because I had it for a long time before it was identified. One day jagsrock95 posted a whole lot of Welz baskets and one, (centre front, image four), has the same spatter décor as my rose bowl. I guess that it had been an unknown for so long, that the fact that it had gained an identity had never really registered.
When you think about it only Welz used colour palettes like this ..... blue, grey/green and brown/black (probably amethyst).
As you can see the shape of this Welz rose bowl is the same as the previous rose bowl.......which is another reason for me to now regard that too as Welz.

I can't see the blue/green in the jagsrock basket example. Am I missing something? I have been following your very tentative and cautious Welz attribution with interest, but in my mind, it's not quite there yet... These spatter examples are very elusive beasts.

You make a very valid point until you look at the base of the rose bowl. The base of a spatter piece is generally the best reference when judging a spatter. It would be good to see the basket photographed from a different angle as in some of my photos the spatter came out shades of grey.
That said the blue and grey/green are a stumbling block and the whole issue is going to have to go into abeyance once more. Thank you for your interest.
Hi Wow22 I answered you this morning, in a hurry, before going out for the day. Looking at the baskets again I find that after enlarging images three and four it's possible to enlarge them further by 'left clicking' on the part you want enlarged. When I do that you can actually see the existence of grey/green in the splatter mix. You may like to try that yourself.
Hey Sklo, your latest satin spatter rose bowl purchase has really sent you into a spin - with a flurry of posts and hypotheses. It's wonderful that you have this passion and curiosity (and time!). Also, the intelligence to ask questions we all need to ask, backed by sound reason. That said, I still don't find the decor on the Welz basket helpful with this example. It might prove to be Welz, but on the basis of this comparison alone, it's not convincing enough, for me at least. You appear to have an exhaustive, ever-growing collection, which is constantly uncovering new information and examples for all of us. I enjoy all your posts, but I'm sitting on the fence until you find the same shape in a more recognizable Welz decor.
"I'm sitting on the fence until you find the same shape in a more recognizable Welz decor."
The other option is to find the decor on a very well established Welz shape.
The fence is very crowded today, but perhaps I too could find a spot there whilst waiting for something to turn up............
