Hello I have found what I think might have been a pair of earrings in a past life, maybe had gold attached as they seem to have had fixings ripped away, and discarded in the junk, but I am thinking to myself, no jeweler who is going to use gold, is not going to finish the work with glass,and these are real stone to me , but not sure what kind yet. Or how old, stunning cut to them.

They look like they were citrine briolette cut beads but have now had the tip snapped off. In another life I made jewelry using beads of this sort. You buy them as a whole strand with many beads. Some of them always turn out to have been drilled too close to the tip & they break when you try to string them. You have other little gemstones that look to me to be the same thing: beads that did not stand up to being used. (I have saved my broken beads for use in kaleidoscopes that allow you to fill the object case with your own bits.)
No reason to think they are not genuine stone. However, most citrine on the market started life as amethyst & has been heat treated to change the color. Also no reason to think they are particularly old, unless you know where they've been & how long they've been there. And that's all she wrote. :)
Thanks cameo for the great help I wouldn't have guessed they was citrines as I always thought citrines was a more orange colour. I would guess old but not sure how old.
