Not sure what it is

Recently went to an auction and brought home the wooden chair and the wooden folding piece in front of the chair and table. Nobody knew what the folding piece was and I haven't seen anything online. I thought maybe it wasn't sitting correctly on the floor and could possibly be a backrest for when someone is sitting on the floor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
