Here's another Gladding McBean planter. It's abou 18 inches in diameter and about 2 feet tall. Kind of an orange color in fairly good condition. I've only seen one other and it was a blue green color. Does anyone know the approximate date of this?
Another fine garden pot! This was a little easier to find - it is shown in the early (pre-1925) catalog and the same design shown again in the 1932 catalog (in a slightly smaller size). Without access to all the catalogs, again, difficult to pin down - but certainly early 20th Century. If you acquired the two pots from the same source, chances are they both date to pre-1925.
Hi artfoot, Thanks for the info, that really helps. I have one more Gladding McBean that I'll post in a couple days. It's a really nice table! These all belonged to my Grand parents who did get these somewhere around the early 1920's, they lived Marin County, CA.
Gladding, McBean & Company was (and still is) located in Lincoln in the Sacramento area. Established in the 1870s, they were the major (if not the only) local supplier of large architectural and garden ware for most of the first part of the 20th Century in Northern California. The 1920s and Marin County fit perfectly with the time line and these pieces could have been purchased at any well-stocked nursery or garden supply outlet in the area. Looking forward to seeing the table.
For a little TMI - GMcB called this mottled glaze "Pulsichrome".
Hi artfoot, Wow, great information, really appreciate it. I'll post a few pictures of the table today. Thanks
I LOVE this one! really nice!
