It's a beautiful color stained art glass vase with a unique pattern that looks like a pair of eyes looking through glasses. It's made of real thick glass that's 8 3/8" tall by 4" wide with a polished pontil. It also has 3/4" bands that are lightly cut on the outside of the vase in a downward spiral that really stand out when light hits it.This belonged to a relative who's sure it's from the 1940's that's going in to a retirement home. She's selling her collection of art glass that's all old. When I seen this I had to buy it from her.Could this have been made by Murano or one of there glass artisans.I would really appreciate any ideas on who might have made this.
It's a beautiful spatter glass, and I love the pattern on it.
Certainly in the 1940s there wasn't much going on in the studio glass area and this sort of production would likely have come from a bigger glass blowing production. Perhaps Murano but it has more of a Northern European feel to me.
Sorry I can't help Jim!.
Thanks Racer4 for the ideas.I'm going to keep researching it and if I find it I'll post the results.
