Pin is metal, about 1 1/2" wide, 1 1/4 " tall. It is shaped like a rectangular shield. On the bottom there are words written in latin which are " In Omnia Paraius", which translate to " In All Things Be Prepared".

TA has it-- it is from the 18th Infantry Regiment of the US Army.
The insignia is called a Distinctive Unit Insignia (DUI) or simply a unit crest by soldiers. These are/ were worn by soldiers assigned to the unit.
A photo of the back would be helpful if you'd like to know the age of the crest.

Unfortunately there is nothing on the back except the mounting post. Thanks for identifying for me
Clutch back vs. pinback and construction will help to give an era.
