We found this set in the back of mom & dad's closet. The entire service for 4 was wrapped in an August 1955 newspaper and stored with items gotten following grandma's death in 1992.
Each piece bares the Johnson Bros. England mark above, but have different hand written "artist's marks" and/or an indented letter as seen in the last photo. We're still researching the pieces and have yet to identify what each of the marks mean and when this set was made.
The set includes a 10 1/2" platter, 9" serving bowl, 9" plates, 7" plates, 6" bowls, shallow dishes in 3", 5", & 7", and cups & saucers. We are still going through boxes and bins, so there may be more. We know there were other service pieces made because during our research we saw a creamer.
We're assuming for now they were a set of wedding china either for grandma or mom... we may never know. But they sure are pretty!
