I believe this bowl is cast bronze with a makers mark on the outer bottom. Inside the casting is rough and unfinished. Figural rats adorn the outer walls of the bowl measuring 9" across and 5" tall.

Wow, that's a fantastic bowl! And quite substantial in size. Love it.
That is a very cool and unusual bowl. A master made this, probably for a year of the rat celebration.
I'm leaning to Japanese and am trying to find the maker's seal.

Yes that price was actually in pounds. And the one I was looking at came back at was 12,500 pounds..a little over $17,000 USD
