This is the welz Umbrella vase I had not seen before it is the standard 8 1/2" tall with eight pull-outs; these are single pull-outs instead of the ones with multiple points. The decor is called line or stripe but I prefer "Confetti with Lines". What you can see in the base image is a precise grinding made for shops in France- Belgium and Holland, this makes the base sit perfectly flat. The North American importers didn't get the flat ground bottom version. My theory for creating glass pieces with neither pontil or ground rim is that they blew the bubble into a mold punti rod. This would have held the base and allowed for furnace work to the rim. I have seen an old drawing of glass workers using this process to make wine bottles
Beautiful welz! One of my favorite welz decors on a fantastic shape!
