These are a deep green but being translucent the colour is easily changed when the light comes from above.
The slender, frilled top is the same as some ribbed ball feet vases, but here the lower part resembles ribbed cubes. The whole sits on three, pale amber, leafy feet. This is much rarer than the ribbed ball feet shape.
Height 17 cm./6.75 inches
Those bases are intriguing...reminiscent of crystals growing.
Thank you, IronLace, I thought they were a nice find. Probably a nightmare for the mould maker though!
Been waiting for these to come along ... very nice!
The frilled tops look like Fenton vases.
Wow, how cool are these!! I haven't seen anything like them before, and I love the colour and the geometric shapes. Just awesome Peggy! Two of them too!!
Thanks, Phil, I noticed your presence elsewhere......
Thank you, funtocollectglass, though it may be the other way round :) These vases may well predate the earliest Fenton by a decade or even more!
Hi, Karen, I hadn't seen anything like them before either, but since then two people have sent images of the shape in different décors. And who knows what will turn up next. Glad you like them too :)
marvelous
Thank you so much, kivatinitz. Glad you like them too :)
Where do you find all these great Welz pieces? Can I call you Indiana Jones of Welz?
Mostly on ebay, Ivonne, though not always called Welz! You may call me whatever you choose, because I know it will always be friendly meant :)
