This is a decorative vase made in the style of night lights of the period. As you see from image two this shape is not circular although the rim is. The rim at 1.75 inches is too narrow to have been a nightlight.
However the much broader vase with it in images three and four, with a rim of 2.5 inches, is wide enough to take the mini oil burner used in some shapes at the time. Additionally it has an exceptionally wide and heavy base which may have been designed to increase stability.
Height 18 cm./7 8inches
I really like a squeezed shape, it's like getting two for one, and makes the object just that bit more interesting. It's really lovely Peggy.
Glad you like these, Karen, another shape I collect!
sklo, I have missed so much in the last few months here on CW - wow - what eye candy I am seeing! I don't know where to even start. But as usual, you have posted some beautiful pieces. I love the contrast between these two - so delicate and so robust!
Beautiful!
Thank you, Michelle, for a lovely compliment. Good to hear from you......I look forward to you getting back to posting :)
Glad you like it, Rhea, thank you!
Beautiful shapes and decor, both new to me.
Thank you, Fran, it's not the commonest décor.......
