Ruttro...this one might be an unexpected surPRIZE -- and maybe even one I won't need to actually beg TallCakes to ID for me this time??!! <LOL> :-) :-) :-)
Another jar from Mom's pantry, this one still mostly full of bulk tea leaves.
It reminded me somewhat of my old (another surPRIZE) set of Hoosier Cabinet jars (that indeed TallCakes identified a few months ago) but the lid looked 'too nice' compared to those -- for that plus a couple more unrelated reasons I rather expected it was actually a more modern reproduction or 'in the style of' piece. Went looking around the website that TC had pointed me to then, anyway...and here's the "SURPRISE"...??
http://www.hoosiercabinet.com/other-canister-styles.htm
It looks for all the world like the "HOCKING GREEN TEA CANISTER" seen at the bottom of that page --up to and including the nice lid?!! YIKIES -- mebbe this thing *is* real, too...could it be??!!
The bottom of the jar isn't shown there, mine has a round spot in the middle (just like my other old jars) along with the number 7. Other than that unknown, the jar I'm holding in my hand seems *identical* (down to mold marks, etc) to the one pictured there...? <applause>
For the record, it's about 3" square and a little over 6" tall with the lid on. Looks good on my kitchen windowsill next to the Hoosier jars, the Hoosier Tea is full of Lipton teabags! :-) :-) :-)
[HAPPY EDIT]
Just had to lose one of the first pics I added, in favor of a new one. Don't know why it took me so long to finally wonder if this jar would glow 'neon green' under UV light (which apparently it should do if it is authentic?) so I grabbed a handy blacklight (of course I have one?!!) and indeed IT DOES!! TOO COOL!!!
Neat I had not seen a jar one like this.....also see my post here about blacklight and other uses
https://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/152723-other-uses-for-a-uv-light-in-the-collect
If I'd had seen your 'blacklight post' before, Rose, no doubt it wouldn't have taken 4+hrs for it to occur to me to check my jar?!! <lol>
Also, our minders have recategorized me so I guess I'm learning even more, apparently this is also the stuff called "vaseline glass". Cool. ;-) They also put it in the "Anchor-Hocking" glass category but there's still uncertainty in my mind about that one, I suspect (based on the Hoosier cabinet website) that this jar was actually just made by "Hocking", before the "Anchor" part of that company came along...?
