He's a largish bird at 25cm long, and proud too.
Multi Glass closed in the late 1980s due to insolvency after 80 years of making glass, but by 2000 four of its glass artists had bought the name and restarted production. This phoenix is very similar in style to one I earlier had posted, but it was old company production, and this is new company production.
The glass artists have continued to make Multi Glass animals and birds in similar style to the old production patterns, although they often seem more cartoonish. However their art glass production seems more creative and technical, albeit produced in much smaller numbers than the period prior to the first shutdown.
He's full of character, isn't he? Lovely, lovely piece!
Your passion for (and knowledge of) Japanese glass is incredible. Thank you for sharing it with the world.
Thanks Anik for the love and comment. My knowledge is small really, it's just that I have done more research than most and Japanese glass is generally not well studied in the West. If only I could read Japanese! I remain stubbornly mono lingual however, despite some effort to learn. Ah well.
Jancal so nice to have your approval, oh owner of great beauty!
I mean that sincerely (I know our Aussie ways miss the mark sometimes).
Many thanks!
Lovely one, Karen!
I don't know why, but lately I got a pheasant fever added to my bug addiction.... :-))
Oh, he is gorgeous Karen!
Fenix bird with fire colors
What a magnificent creature!
Pascale I have found CW is often a trigger for me to collect things! As if I need more ideas lol.
Thanks for the love and comment.
Thanks Judy, he is a happy to hear it!
I do think him phoenix-like Sylvia, thanks!
I'm sure he thinks he is too Peggy!! Thanks mate.
Mr Pheasant has gladly added that to his list of attributes thanks Thomas!
He's a great one! Absolutely love him. How the heck have you been???
Heckin good mate! Just been super busy so have been in and out of here a bit.
You? Seems you do the same; arrive, have a chat or two, then swan off to do whatever. I haven't time to be here daily but I love catching up.
Sooooo - how are the sales going (still Etsy?). Also I was wondering when you might get your skinny arse over here to Aus; we need some entertainment to take our minds off useless govts.
Very happy holidays to you Karen :)
