I believe this is a Jakob Bengel necklace. I have collected the brickwork pieces not the galalith pieces. I saw this on eBay and decided to watch it and of course I bought it. The reason I believe it's a Bengel piece is the individual link chain and the design of the metal pieces very Art Deco. I would be interested in your thoughts.
Many thanks for looking
I really really like this.
Thank you Karen, it's stylish to wear.
Hello,
After scrutinising an awful lot of Bengel necklaces, I haven't seen any that use claw/prong settings. Also, the majority of the necklace chain segments are tubular, as opposed to flat.
Hope this helps. Yours is a really lovely necklace, and I agree very Deco.

Hi Gillian,
Thanks for your comment. I do see what you mean, Bengel used both tubular and flat chains, I do agree is jewellery didn’t usually use prong settings but I have seen a couple. I’ve put the link above to show more of the lines of the chrome panels which in my opinion are very similar in shape to my necklace. The only other designer that used flat panel chain in this era was Theodor Fahrner.
Many thanks
