ART SIGNED " NUCLEO DE ARTSOMO", SANTO DOMINGO. See #4 for the indication it was to hang from som thing. It looks "voodoo" but its head has a green bow atop the head, which looks drawn in with the the artist's green ink from inside the head, This is fluid ink, not a ball point. The man that sold me this was a world traveler whose display was rained out. I stood there soaking wet, looking at things and he said get that box and I'll sell it full for $20. Two of the items , artifacts(from a tomb)--sold for quite a bit and I kept a few things, this and the vivid feather necklace I \had on a few months and some random rings and handmade jewelry. I believe to be vintge. This intriuged me, so I kept it. I like oddities. I think this was formed on a small gourd?? About 2 1/4 deep- Diameter about 3 3/4 inches
Santo Domingo voodoo iis similar to Haitian voodoo however the two also have their differences. In the Dominican Republic the main religion is Catholicism although large numbers of people practice Dominican Voodoo. Dominican Voodoo is not the main religion and is therefore not as strict as it is in Haiti.

It actually says Nucleo de Artesanos Berraty, or Serraty. The Columbia government undertook a census of artesanal communities in 1998, you can contact them to find out more about who made your artwork:
