Late 19th Century.1880-95
Original grand tour souvenir cross / crucifix depicting several Rome churches : Top : St. Peters square and Vatican
Left : St. John Lateran
Right : Basilica of St. Mary
Bottom : St. Paul outside the walls
In the center a dove represents the Holy Spirit with small inlaid golden rays. Body of Christ is beautifully done in detail
Dimension: Measures the cross 9.1”(23 cm.) in length by 5.5” (14 cm.) in width. Total length including bail: 9.6”(24.5 cm.)
Metal: The cross could be chrome or nickel plated on white brass. Weight: 386 gr.
Condition: Excellent micro mosaic tile work on the front with no missing tiles. All in its original beautiful condition.
The top of the cross has a ring attached on it, so it could be hung on wall.
It wouldn't be Chromium plated. You barely see it before about 1920. It is always nickel or silver.
