I've added this to my kitchenware/tableware collection. It is clear satin glass with painted desert scenes and an EPNS rim. Egyptian or desert scenes were very popular in the wake of the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922.
Normally these scenes include pyramids, palm trees and a camel with rider. Here though we have an elephant with astonishing tusks!!!
Diameter 18 cm./8 inches
I Really love these examples!
Thank you, EZa, good to hear from you again :)
They have an old-fashioned charm with their exotic drawings.
Thank you. Ivonne. I suspect that even new, while the subject matter may have been topical, painting on glass may well have been coming to an end as far as mass produced items was concerned.
This could be a product of rafinery Karel Palda Nový Bor (Haida) cca 1930.
Thank you very much, Larksel. I like glass with painted scenery and prior to your message knew only that it was Czech......
