Snagged from a thrift store years ago, because I remember similar shiny chrome staplers on the desks in my Dad's office even longer ago.

This PILOT stapler has its name stamped on its knob, along with "ACE FASTENER CORP. CHICAGO,ILL. MADE IN U.S.A.". Below/behind the knob it is marked "PILOT MODEL NO 402 USE ONLY PILOT 400 STAPLES" and on its underside are PATENT numbers 2033018, 2056480, 2066157, 2103551, 2107169, and 2112941. It is roughly 6-1/2" long. It still works perfectly, and in fact is the one stapler that currently lives on my own desktop. :-)

AnythingObscure, I don't need a stapler very often, but I finally felt that need the other day, and remembered that I had one 'rescued' from my parents' belongings after they passed.

I looked it up online, and among the hits I got was your post. };-)

It looks like the same model as mine, and it has the same patents listed on the underside, ranging from 1936 to 1938:

      https://patents.google.com/patent/US2056480/

      https://patents.google.com/patent/US2103551/
      https://patents.google.com/patent/US2107169/
      https://patents.google.com/patent/US2112941/

FYI, I also have a rescued box of compatible staples, so I loaded the stapler and used it today. The first try gave me two staples, but the second try was perfect. :-)
