I carried it from Germany in my lap after my mom passed and can't seem to find another like it online. Would love to learn more. Is it an Armand Marseille? How old? Does it have a name? What was it wearing? I will never sell but what insurance value? If any.
Eyes need reset and damage at neck but otherwise intact.
Marked AM 2542 / 1 1/2 / 3k
Hi does doll have Germany on neck lower down ? I am wondering if it was not meant for export and perhaps sold only in France and not USA . There looks like another mark beside the AM can you tell what that is ? It is a Armand Mold number but that mold did not look like this . I will await your reply
It is a German doll. I brought it to the US from Germany, as stated in my explanation. There are no other marks. It was dirt. The mold number is what is given. What did 2542 look like? It is listed as a mold number used by Armand Marseille but no book ever has a picture.
Other 2542 dolls. It's the same mold except the other pictures do,not show the teeth well.

If the doll is not marked Germany on her she was never sold outside Germany . if you left up on head a bit to see if it says Germany is what I need to know . I am sorry in my earlier response I said sold in France I meant only Germany as all exported dolls had to marked from country they came from .
Well on looking again because we are comparing a white doll and black it does seem to look like the white version .
Here is one for sale in Germany . She markings also :-) You can watch what it sells for also . I am inclined to think they sold just in Germany and of coarse your Black one would be much harder to find and desirable . The one's I have seen the bodies all had crier boxes in them in the white version . Your doll dates around 1920

Mine has a bisque head and composition body but it never had a voice box. This mold was used for cloth bodies, bodies with voice boxes, and regular composition bodies it seems. My estimate is that is from between 1920-1950. It seems very hard to find out more as it is one of the molds that was not given a special name. I just don't know how rare or how much it is worth. I won't sell but would love to know insurance value. The original clothing was lost, I assume, and this looks like it was handmade by someone.
And no, the doll is not marked Germany.
The ones I sent link on are composition bodies just had voice box but the fact that yours doesn't isn't unusual . Many times heads were sold to other companies or vs bodies were bought from other companies . The link is your doll just white . I would not say it had so much value you need to add to insurance but in order to get extra coverage for insurance on dolls you will need to take her to a expert with letterhead to put a value on her to show insurance co. She would be covered under your personal items on a homeowners or renters policy :-)
