    Hello dear CW users!
I am reading CW's Show & Tell post now since quite a while, and i decided that it is about time to do my own shows and tells.
    Here we go:
I have waited for so long for a pools of light necklace to appear from an unexpected corner of the internet (means not from US or UK eBay where such necklaces cost a fortune). And in the end, patience always pays off.
I found this beauty not long ago, and I am still stunned by its real life magic.
The necklace is "flapper length", app. 80 cm long, made of 42 rock crystal orbs measuring 12 mm in diameter and wrapped in gilded sterling silver wire with small flower caps. I believe my piece was rarely worn, since it is in mint condition, and neither the gilding nor the orbs show any signs of abrasion.
The orbs are indeed rock crystal and not glass. It is pretty easy to distinguish between rock crystal and glass. Rock crystal is heavier and harder than glass. Accordingly it should weight more and it should scratch glass. Additionally, it always should feel cool, even when worn (whereas glass quickly warms up to the skin). The story that seeing an image upside down only through a true rock crystal is false. Every orb made of transparent material shows this effect.
    What else can i say?
I think, my piece comes from the US, since it is marked on the claps only with "STERLING". And i think, that it dates to the 1920's or 1930's. The clasp is a spring clasp, but of the old type (see fourth picture - claps in open condition). Instead of pulling a protruding hook running in a groove in the ring itself, the ring is opened with an integrated "pusher".
I have seen already a few pools of light pieces with such flower caps but none with gilding. The warm (red) gold tone goes very well with the light glow of the stones, and the delicate wrappings are just beautiful in their minimalistic execution. In my opinion it looks better than the more massive floral bands.
    Enjoy and thanks for watching!
