Thinking this is probably 1960's or so in age, as best as I remember I grabbed it from a trashcan at my Dad's workplace when I was a teen, where it had been discarded by one of his bosses who had meanwhiles used it in his own office for who knows how many years before. It still, in fact, has charts of handwritten local (to Dad's office) phone numbers lightly glued on the inside of its front and back covers (not shown) in J.T.'s distinctive writing.
Its covers are thick cardboard like a hardback book, there's an aluminum and wire bracket-thing inside its spine to allow 'paperback' phone books to be clipped into it. The front cover is textured and embossed with its various HOLIDAY INN logos and text, also showing the remains of old tape 'repairs' (now gone, I don't remember if I removed them or not?) to its hinged edges.
It currently holds a ca.1984 phone book that I'm certain I put into it, back then when I also used it for its intended purpose before it otherwise got stowed away in a drawer... ;-)
