Any thoughts on this large 14" high vase in amethyst coloured ground? It is characterised by the large spaces of black glass between the 'feathering', top blown with 'dished' base.

Jospehinenhutte! Here are several examples of Loetz Pg 7624 to compare:
      http://www.loetz.com/decors-a-z/phaenomen-genres/phaenomen-genres/pg-7624

Note that there is little to no spacing between threads in the Loetz examples. The other tell sign is the ground color of the glass. Loetz seldom worked with deep Amethyst (which appears black) and never used this ground color for their PG productions.

The ground colour is in fact a lighter Loetz amethyst ( see photo 2 inside neck) the black is an applied colour. The Josephinenhutte vase shown by twentiethc has very close spacing and little black background unlike my vessel?Does the distinctive shape of my vase help in identification?

Dark or light, amethyst was never used by Loetz in their PG's. Regarding the shape, I wish CW would let us post photos in our replies. I have a collage of photos showing 6 different examples exhibiting 6 different decors that all look "similar" in shape and are all 14in tall but only two of these examples were produced by Loetz, so, while shape is certainly an important factor in identifying glass, in this case the shape does not help. It's a lovely piece, but as a Loetz expert, I can tell you it is not.

Many thanks for that useful information. So the amethyst ground rules out Loetz and the shape is inconclusive ,I guess its just a matter of keeping a 'look-out' for parallels on the' web'.

There is also a book that you can purchase entitled: "Josephine Glassworks (Art Nouveau - Art Deco - Modern) 1900- 1950" published by the Glasmueum Passau.
