I found this large "platter" (measures 22" long, 18.5" wide and 3" deep) several years ago, and have been trying to research it every year without success. The dish is stamped "Italy" on the bottom, and I assumed it was used for carving meat in the center area, since the white area serves the purpose of catching the juices and funneling them to the bowl area in the front of the dish. The dish also has side areas for (I assume) vegetables and potatoes (for example). I have not been able to find anything on the internet that comes close to this dish, so I'm now asking for help.
Does anyone know what this style of dish is called, and what time period it would be from? I'm not sure if it's vintage, or maybe even antique. I need to find a better way of identifying the piece, so I can determine a reasonable value for insurance purposes now. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd be grateful. Thanks in advance!
