I used to have some of the bird jugs which I loved, this one is a treasure also.
Thank you PhilD, yours must be beautiful. This is the only piece I have from that collection.

I am sooo in love with this parakeet trinket box. Thank you for sharing.
Very kind comment Dante, I love it too as reminds me of our former pet parakeets - they could talk too, so cute
Thanks Jenni. I own about 40 rescue parakeets here in Australia that live in a large flight aviary - they all have names, their own individual little personalities and are very much loved :) That's why I love this piece so much. I wish I could find it somewhere, & I'll definitely be keeping my eye out for one!
That's so wonderful about your 'keet aviary Dante - or do you call them budgies - that sounds dreamy. Even in groupings, I love the unique sound of their chirping, like morning song
Yes, they are called budgies here. Their morning and afternoon song is definitely unique - and extremely loud ;)
This budgie box was manufactured for Fitz and Floyd in 1983. I worked for them in their Import section rating and clearing shipments through customs. Yoshi was the head buyer for giftware and some china in Japan for them. This was after Mr. Fitz(patrick) committed suicide leaving the company to Mr. Floyd. I have a number of prototypes that were sent to F&F for approval for production, I purchased them from the company when they were through with them.
Thank you so much about this great Fitz and Floyd info row, I have many of their lovely pottery pieces, noting that some earlier ones had stickers, then engraved ltrs & dates on bottom, sometimes with a "made in" (usually an Asian country") added. I only know from online searching that they were originally based in Texas. Very sad about Mr. Fitzpatrick's suicide, did not know that unfortunate fact. I hope you will post some of your F&F prototypes for us here on CW, many fans I'm sure. And kudos on having a most fascinating job with that co! Thanks again, Jenni
Sorry about the typo, my droid tablet put the word "row" when it should have read rlw, pls excuse & many thanks again
Mr. Fitz and Mr. Floyd were in a relationship with one another, it was common news at the company that was based in Farmers Branch TX just outside of Dallas on Luna Rd.(Then). From what I understand Mr. Fitz's mother couldn't handle it, and drove Fitz to depression and he offed himself.
Mr. Floyd used to send his chauffeur Robert, to Sony Bryant's Barbecue off of Inwood Rd near downtown Dallas. in his dark green Rolls Royce for which we all had to take CPR classes in case Mr. Floyd had a heart attack from all the barbecue he ate. It was a great experience working there, they had a second line that was less expensive called OCI (Omnibus Collection International) I worked with them also.
I will have to look for some of my stuff, I know where one set of bookends is, but the other stuff I will have to dig for.
Thank you so much rl for sharing this rich treasure trove of info about F&F, it's really great and the only way to know these things is to be an employee on the inside - for example my husband is a long time worker (microscope tech) for one of the top camera & lens mfrs, but as he still works there cannot share his many great stories yet, both personal & professional. It is sad that Mssrs Fitz and Floyd had a rough time in their relationship, probably not only from his mom but others in those unaccepting days. I look forward to seeing your bookends & other items, and will post some of my late 80s-early 90s tropical & jungle pottery in future. Enjoy the Easter holiday weekend, best Jenni
