I inherited this basket from my parents. No one alive knows from whence it came. My guess is it came from a cliff dwelling or rock shelter somewhere in the SW USA or maybe N Mexico. I suspect a farmer friend gave it to my parents. He farmed around San Diego County in So Cal and N Mexico and would occasionally run into a mortars carved from stones, et while plowing and enjoyed collecting them. The other possibility is a rancher in Ventura County California gave it to my father. I've searched the web but have found nothing like it. The basket is far older than 99% of the baskets I've viewed online and I've not found any with matching patterns.

The picture is not the greatest...but I think this came from the Hupa Tribe. It could also be Yurok or Klamath, can you take better pics of it from the sides and bottom please?
