The Los Angeles Free Music Society, an association of artists and musicians, first came together in the mid-1970s and have ever since been releasing albums of challenging music. Occasionally, attempts at accessibility have been made - these are a few of those attempts...
DARKER SKRATCHER - a sampler of LAFMS groups from 1980.
LOOK TO THIS by The Doo-Dooettes - a 1982 almost approachable tour-de-force by some founding LAFMS associates.
BPEOPLE - a 1981 self-titled album, released through Faulty Products (I.R.S Records), in an attempt by LAFMS associates to reach a more mainstream audience.
TRAINS VS PLANES by Human Hands - this 1981 Faulty Products 45 was a minor hit and is possibly the only time LAFMS associates achieved repetitive mainstream airplay.
LAFMS is well-represented on YouTube - feel free to add a favorite if you can find one.
Whew, thanks Kevin - I was beginning to think I had gone too far. Maybe there should be a dislike button?
Thank you buckethead - happy listening!
Thank you Mac - one man's noise is another man's pleasure and, often, vice versa.
