Here's another 'new' prize from the thrift shop -- after sorting out several other more contemporary pieces (w/red plastic handles) from the bagful of assorted flatware, I was left with these 10 old pieces with mostly matching cherry red bakelite (confirmed!) handles. Havta use the word 'mostly' because one of the two forks and the large spoon (RH side of pics) both have ever-so-slightly different handle shapes than the others; besides that they are all *very* similar to each other in material and construction, so I'm guessing they still came from the same maker (?) in the 1950's or so.
The knives all have "PEERLESS QUALITY ROYAL BRAND CUTLERY CO." marked at the middle of one side of their blades, the matching spoons and fork only have "STAINLESS STEEL" stamped into their backsides over the handles. The odd fork adds "18-6" to that same stamping, and the odd spoon is stamped "S-B STAINLESS USA".
I'll now *definitely* be keeping my eyes open in hopes of coming across more of this way-cool old flatware -- similar styles seem to have been made in a whole bunch of fun colors besides just red, and now I want some of those, too?!! :-) :-) :-)
My gracious thanks to fortapache, TassieDevil, and especially Trey for your loves!! (and so sorry about that spurious noise yesterday...)
yeah I got some noise from some weirdo the other day, hope we don't have another CW stalker again!
