Did several Internet searches. Side round metal marks only say "Patent". Top round metal mark is missing. On the tail it is marked 48 M/M. I believe it is German. Does anyone have any idea who the maker is? Found near San Francisco, so it could be from anywhere. Definitely hand made.

Nice, would be hard to trace... 48 millimeter I guess. Is it just short of 2"?

What makes you think it would be German?

Hello, as I researched, I found that the style matches that of German design. Also, the German planes all have a horn handel unlike the English curved handle. It could be American and styled after the German planes? It's dimensions are 9.5" long or 24 cm, 2.5" wide or 6.5 cm, and 5" from base to top of the horn or 13 cm. Thank you for your interest

Here's one from Czechoslovakia. But I agree, it's close to Germany :)

Yes, the one from Czechoslovakia is close. The difference is the horn or handle on mine does not have a curve in it. Look at the profile to see, it is more straight. Although, the word "Patent" on the metal discs, located on its sides, is in English. Thank you so much for your help on this.

I made a horrible mistake! Sorry, you are right. It is the same curve on the horn. I should have worn my glasses
