Today I show you my latest 2 acquisitions Rare Pietra Dura Fly brooches set in 14K gold. One round and one oval shape. Together with my Micro Mosaic gold fly ring I have a little fly nest besides the cicades.

Is the background ivory? The new flies look like a mix of inlay & etching for the legs? Where I live, among teenagers, 'fly' is a term of approval. These are definitely fly.

cameosleuth thanks for your love and comment. Pietra dura is a term for using cut and fitted, highly polished colored stones to create images. The stonework is glued stone-by-stone to a base after being sliced and cut in different shape sections; and then assembled together so precisely that the contact between each section was practically invisible. So the background is also stone.

Hi! I have these same flies as earrings. Incredible as I’ve never really seen anything like them in the treatment of the wings, etc. They are the most beautiful things!
