    I got lucky and found one of these engravings in a box from a yard sale. Does anyone know if the Department of Engraving and Printing produced these printing blocs for the GAR offices?

      Nope-- nothing official. The GAR was a PRIVATE organization with no connection to the US government.

      These were privately made for many uses-- often used in late 19th century newspapers and advertising.
