I have no idea where this hand originated. I bought it many years ago at a Southern California yard sale and still remember the lady giggling while pleading ignorance to why this was among her items. It is a life-size hand-carved wood human hand with pinkish "fleshtone" paint - not your everyday yard sale find.
I think it interesting that the opposable thumbs and delicate dexterity that enable humans to create such items developed out of learning how to throw things. As Heraclitus said, "Everything is strife."
