A very nice WWII period Officer's coloured side cap to the Victoria Rifles of Canada. The side cap is in very good condition for it's age. To the side of the cap is a nice badge to the Victoria Rifles of Canada, with a red backing beneath it. The badge is in mostly good shape. To the front of the cap are tow silver British Light Infantry buttons, with King's Crowns. Very nice to see a black side cap with those stylish silver buttons to the front of it. No holes or mothing to the cap.
To the interior of the cap is a very fine interior, a quality piece. It is named to "J. MacLeod D. 71342 Bn - HQ." This Officer's name was obviously J. MacLeod and what I assume is his service number is also stated, but I am not sure what Bn - HQ means, perhaps HQ for headquarters? I have not yet done research on this Officer.
This is what I believe to be an Officer's side cap because it is coloured and very high quality piece, with great lining, etc. This cap goes well with my other rank's khaki side cap to the Victoria Rifles of Canada. A very nice, private purchase side cap to the Victoria Rifles of Canada in fantastic condition.
Battalion HQ.
Blunderbuss,
That's what I thought it was but was not for sure certain. Thank you for the confirmation and the comment as always.
Best regards,
