    (1 item)

Poper Iron & Wire Works Chicago Illinois aluminum bodied hand operated drill, with a Jacobs Model 4592 Chuck. The Jacob’s chuck model number points to an early 1940’s item. Looking for information as to the scarcity of this drill and what it’s possibly worth. Thanks

In all my years of tool collecting, i have never seen, or heard of this beauty, so I'm going to say "Very Scarce", (at least in my area)! Excellent find!

Lzenglish, thanks for your reply. I have seen that page for the link you sent me, but unfortunately they require an account setup with a verified credit card, and I’m not going to give them a card to start charging. Been involved in scams like that before, and the only way to stop the charges is closing down your account. Thanks again for your reply. I’ve never seen anything like it before, I actually found it in a Thrift Store in Leeds Alabama for $14.98

Your very Welcome Lakesmodified! I agree with you in not paying for information. There is no challenge in finding information, if you have unlimited funds to pay for it. The challenge is to find it for free, as i have always done. It does take more time, but you learn much much more in doing so, in my opinion. I take it you are looking for the value of your drill? All i can offer you is to look at ebay, and other like sites, and try and find a comp sale. Good Luck!

only one picture...?..is there a pattern number on the other side...? if so google it..
    5. Lakesmodified, 7 years ago
Roycroftbooksfromme1, there are no other identifying marks anywhere else, other than the model number on the Jacobs Chuck, which itentifies it as a early 1940’s Chuck. That’s why I didn’t post any pictures of the other side.

Lakesmodified.. the chuck could of been change, not sure.. I looked around to see if the company was bought out by someone else but no luck ,..hang in theirs a lot smarter folks here who might have better luck and find your info you seek..if not try checking with the chamber of historical in Ill. for the company they must have records....good luck ....

There is one similar at antiquenavigator.com listed as a Medical Drill.
