This Joseph Pennell (1857-1926) etching I picked up a few years back. He was a friend of Whistler (1834-1903) and did this etching of the house Whistler died in and the Church he was buried from in London. It was done in 1904 and is pencil signed along with notes at the bottom, one which says plate destroyed. It has papers in a sleave on the back that says Metropolitan Museum and numbers on the papers and back of frame. My son (whom I ended up giving it to) took it to a museum curator who said it was museum numbers and most likely was in the Met at one time. Our research can only find one possible copy in the archives of the Chicago Art Museum. If you know of any others any where please let me know. Thank You.
