Very beautiful antique engagement ring, great find
Thanks newfld I wasn't sure if it was antique , and the big stone is big not sure what it is tho, shame it has some missing smaller stones.
Thanks aura,vet
I am wondering if anyone knows what kind of stone this is ?
This is very well made. The smaller stones are held in place by Pressure setting, or Channel setting that holds the stones in place without prongs. I can see some stones have popped out of the setting, that can happen with age or if a jeweler tries to resize the ring too large or small after it is already made. The pressure setting makes me believe that the ring was custom made for someone, it takes skill to set those stones like that, more than prong settings.
Are there any markings inside the band, I thought I saw something in the first photo but it is too blurry to tell. I do not want to say these are Diamonds, there is white Topaz, white Sapphire, white Zircon...Have you taken this to a jeweler to check? They can tell by testing the stones to see whether they are diamonds for the smaller stones and the large solitaire, and by checking out the refraction that the stones give off.
Either way, you have a very nice ring that has gorgeous metalworking done, and you might have a winner with the gemstones too :)
Thanks tylnnie great help
