My new old luggage chest

I love my first and latest addition but I am struggling to find out it's history. I've searched for Faber and my search brought me to this website on a post, posted 3years ago. I am hoping someone could enlighten me on who made this piece, what it's made from, how old roughly it might be.
There is an address on the inside of the lid to Merrick NY and I have seen the property in which this piece once belonged to. I'd love to know as much as possible.
