This is not the first appearance that this vase has made on this site. I can't really improve on Phil's excellent photos of the beautiful piece, but since he has kindly allowed me to purchase it from him, I can offer a little more information. If the "tropfen", or drips were gold, then this might be considered a version of Ausführung 217. These are not finished in gold, however. The shape is not listed in the paper patterns, but a sales catalog page reprint in the back of Ricke 2 shows the shape as PN III-2017. Although the paper pattern and corresponding notes are not shown for PN III-2017 in the Musterschnitt, one of the other shapes on the catalogue page is, and it lists this decor as "Amethyst matt iris m. tropfen" (amethyst matt iridescent with drips). In my experience, amethyst is a color that is not found very often. Oh, and by the way - this vase glows bright green under black light!
Great example and, you are right, Loetz amethyst is rather rare. Nice1
wow the iridiscence is radiant like a moon
Still love it - very interesting that this amethyst responds to black light.
Good to know it's in safe hands!
great, i love these in the amethyst, Warren, have you seen a combo with red drips?
