This is another one of the things that followed me home from Mom and Dad's recent 'downsizing auction', where I actually bought it for a buck or two when nobody else seemed interested in it.
This chair (and a 2nd one, I think my little sister still might have it?) were in the living room during my entire childhood, Mom and Dad having purchased the pair when they got married to help furnish their first home together. Magic marker notation in Mom's writing on its bottom confirms its date as November, 1957 (pic 3) but there aren't any manufacturer's marks or labels left on it.
Shortly after the time I grew up and left their home (Jan 1990 to be exact, Mom wrote that date underneath it too) Mom reupholstered it (and the other) into its current fabric, still in the same way/pattern as first done. Pic 4 was taken in 1967 and shows the chair in its original sorta brown colored upholstery (with a couple little kids getting in the way of better showing it, but...) which I recall as being a kinda 'scratchy' fabric, likely an early synthetic material which was truly durable if nothing else, lasting over 30yrs before the cats got to it enough that Mom re-did it... <lol> (and the new fabric isn't nearly so cat-proof, but whatever, I'm still pleased the chair is now in *my* home!!)
